Why magnetic fly screens

How it works

Measure the overall size of the finished screen, clean the joinery with isopropyl alcohol, then apply the magnetic tape and snap the screen on. The full step-by-step is in our DIY fitting guide, including how to handle windows with no flat surface for the magnet.

Frame colour: a range of standard colours, or add a powder-coat can for a custom colour. Standard colours are recommended where possible, as painted frames can chip over time.

Mesh: standard charcoal 18 x 14 insect mesh suits most homes; a finer-weave SOL1818 mesh is available for smaller insects such as midges.

Common questions

Do magnetic fly screens need drilling?

No. The magnetic frame sticks to clean window joinery, so there is nothing to drill or screw.

What size do I order?

Order the overall size of the finished screen in millimetres. If you measure the daylight (glass) opening, add 26mm to both width and height.

What mesh do they come with?

Standard charcoal 18 x 14 insect mesh suits most homes. A finer SOL1818 mesh is available for areas with smaller insects such as midges.

Can I get a custom frame colour?

Yes. There is a range of standard colours, or you can add a powder-coat can for a custom colour. Standard colours are recommended as paint can chip over time.
