Before you measure

A retractable door screen is less forgiving than a magnetic window screen. You are responsible for the finished opening, fixing surface, clearances, housing side and exact build dimensions.
Ask before ordering when
The reveal needs packing or boxing, the opening is out of square, handles or thresholds obstruct the track, or you are unsure which surface becomes the finished opening.
Fixed charcoal insect mesh
The DIY Legacy build uses charcoal mesh for everyday fly and mosquito protection; there is no separate mesh choice. It is not retained inside the tracks and can move or release in strong wind, so exposed sites and persistent pets need extra judgement.

A wrong dimension can make a made-to-measure screen unusable. The planning and measuring guide explains the records to take, including housing side and handle height, without guessing at opening-specific fixing details.
Handle height is a build input
Where requested, measure from the bottom of the housing to the bottom of the handle. Record the exact millimetre value.
Housing selection matters
For a single, choose the housing side while facing the opening with the housing projecting towards you. A double is ordered as one full opening width.
Track is finished on site
The track is supplied long and trimmed to the actual installation. Do not assume the supplied track removes the need for an accurate finished opening.

Common questions
Is this a retractable screen?
Yes. The fixed charcoal insect mesh retracts into a housing at the side of the doorway, so the opening is clear when the screen is not in use. This DIY build does not have a separate mesh choice.
How do I choose single or double?
Use the current configurations offered by the configurator. A double is entered as one complete finished opening width and the two screens meet in the middle. The pricing service applies the current build limits for each choice.
Can I install it myself?
Yes, if you are comfortable assessing the structure, creating a square and plumb finished opening, trimming track and following the supplied product instructions. This is classed as advanced DIY.
What arrives?
The made-to-measure Legacy screen assembly and the tracks and fittings for the selected build. Check the packing list and supplied instructions before cutting or fixing anything.
What happens if my measurement is wrong?
A product made correctly to the dimensions supplied cannot be returned for a measuring error. Ask through the enquiry form before ordering if the opening is unusual.
